Created especially for the older performing arts student, our Teen Showcase will offer advanced lessons in voice, dance and staging. Students will select a piece of their own to perform and bring the sheet music to camp for rehearsal. (Ideally students will select a piece from a Broadway musical.) In addition, Director Wendell Purrington will select a piece for an ensemble performance. The week’s training will culminate in a Cabaret-style performance in the Chloe Checkoway Pavilion
Wendell S. Purrington has over 30 years experience as a performer, educator, director and producer. He currently serves as Performing Arts Department Chair for the Portsmouth School District as well as Director of Music Ministries at First Parish Congregational Church in York, Maine. He has a Masters of Choral Conducting from New England Conservatory and has guest-conducted several honors choirs and district choruses in New England, as well as the Manchester (NH) Choral Society on its two-week concert tour of Italy. He has served as the Musical Director for Portsmouth’s Prescott Park Arts Festival and taught at both The University of New Hampshire and Providence College.
Students will attend evenings, Monday through Friday, and perform a musical review for their families and friends on Friday evening.

Teen Showcase participants are not required to fill out a measurement form. Also disregard the Rising Stars form that are included.
