Assistant Scenic Artist

Ogunquit Playhouse, Ogunquit, Maine seeks experienced an ASSISTANT SCENIC ARTIST for our 6-production 2019 Mainstage Season. Approximate dates of employment: April – November, 2019.

Ideal Candidate: Must be detail-oriented and remain focused in a fast paced working environment with some non-traditional hours. Experienced, exceptional painting skills are required.

Job Duties/Expectations include (but are not limited to):

-Assist the Scenic Charge in painting set pieces, some properties and drops for each production including Children’s Theatre

-Experience working from paint elevations and reference material

-Must be able to create samples from reference materials, while also keeping a detailed log of procedure and recipe for future duplication.

-Ability to work independently and with a team

-Basic knowledge of tried and true scenic techniques

-Experience mixing and matching colors

-Experience sculpting/carving foam a plus

-Have a working knowledge in theatrical procedures, scenic painting tools and products

-Must be comfortable working at heights, and ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
