MYSTIC PIZZA: A New Musical

SEP 1 - OCT 2

As Summer gives way to Fall, The Leary Pavilion becomes a quaint New England fishing village for the World Premiere of MYSTIC PIZZA: A NEW MUSICAL. Based on the beloved 1988 MGM rom-com that launched the career of Julia Roberts, three working-class girls navigate the complexities of life, love, and family in a small town pizza joint serving everyone from the townies to the privileged country club set. And what's in that secret sauce, you ask? The hits of the ‘80s and ‘90s! It’s simply irresistible!

REVIEWS

“This world premiere is among the best of those presented by Ogunquit Playhouse with a charming, light-hearted story, an incredibly talented cast, costuming that you might still find in the clothes closet in the attic, and a string of 1980s tunes that will have you reminiscing about big hair, neon colors and shoulder pads.” — Dan Marois, Broadway World Review

“It’s hard to know if a new musical will make it to Broadway, if that is even the plan with this show. But, as long as the production is anywhere near as good as it is in Ogunquit, Mystic Pizza has the ingredients to make it a popular success wherever it plays.” — Steve Feeney, Press Herald Review

“Bravo to Ogunquit Playhouse for figuring out the secret sauce, because wow – with Mystic Pizza they deliver a delicious product and much-appreciated TLC. The storied Playhouse is synonymous with artistic excellence, but this production rises above the challenges of our coronavirus times.” — Linda Chin, Theatre Mirror Review
