Tearing up her return ticket and cutting her hair, she soon realizes that life on busy city streets is not all that she envisioned. Seeking an eligible bachelor to sweep her off her feet, Millie’s search for fortune lands her at the Hotel Priscilla for single women. Without money to afford her room, Millie encounters the sinister proprietress, Mrs. Meers. Soon after, girls in surrounding rooms mysteriously begin to disappear. Millie’s temporary misfortunes begin to fall away as she gets a job as a stenographer and finds herself in glitzy speakeasies.
