2012 Auditions

The Ogunquit Playhouse is holding auditions for Equity and non-Equity actors for its 80th summer season.  The 2012 season includes:

-Always, Patsy Cline

-Damn Yankees: The Boston Red Sox Version
(June 20 – July 21 Rehearsals begin June 5) ALL ROLES OPEN EXCEPT APPLEGATE

-Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story
(Sept 19-Oct 21 Rehearsals begin Sept 4) ALL ROLES OPEN.  All shows and dates subject to change.  We are particularly seeking actors/singers who play musical instruments for Buddy.

Prepare 16-32 bars of an up-tempo musical theatre song as well as a picture and resume stapled back to back. Bring sheet music in your key as an accompanist will be provided. Have a second brief song prepared in case you are asked.

DANCER AUDITIONS

Be warmed up and ready to dance at the time of your call. Wear appropriate dance clothes & shoes (ladies bring character heels). Prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo musical theatre song as well as a picture and resume stapled back to back. Bring sheet music in your key as an accompanist will be provided. Have a second brief song prepared in case you are asked.

LOCAL OPEN CALL

Prepare 16-32 bars of an up-tempo musical theatre song as well as a picture and resume stapled back to back. Also bring dance clothes in case you are chosen for a dance call back. Bring sheet music in your key as an accompanist will be provided.

DIRECTIONS TO SEACOAST REPERTORY:

From 95 take exit 7 and head into downtown Portsmouth on Market Street. Take a left on Bow Street at the fork in the road, you MUST bear right past at St. John's Church. Go two blocks to State Street, take a left, then take another left so taht you loop around. Then take your first right and the Seacoast Repertory Theatre is on your right.

  • JOE B MAULDIN – (20s) Double Bass player from Lubbock, Texas. Serious, square young man with musical ability. Must be able to sing and act.
  • JERRY ALLISON – (20s) Drummer from Lubbock, Texas. Good looking, irrepressible fun loving guy with musical ability. Must be able to sing and act.
  • MARIA ELENA HOLLY – (20s) Hispanic-American. Classy and well- educated. Must be able to sing and musical ability an advantage.
  • J.P. RICHARDSON – THE BIG BOPPER - A former DJ, he is a Texan with an irrepressible larger-than-life character. 6ft and above, with the ability to command the stage on his own as a single performer. His key song is “Chantilly Lace”. Must be able to act and the ability to play a musical instrument an advantage but not prohibitive.
  • RITCHIE VALENS – (20s) Ritchie is an attractive and handsome Latin-American singer with serious charisma, a dedicated eye for the ladies, and the ability to hold the stage in his own right.   • HIPOCKETS DUNCAN – (30s), an exuberant hometown radio DJ from Lubbock, Texas, with an air of authority and a keen sense of humor. Must be able to sing and have the ability to play a musical instrument.
  • NORMAN PETTY (30s) - a record producer from Clovis, New Mexico, with a businesslike manner and a love of making records. Must be able to sing and have the ability to play a musical instrument.
  • VI PETTY - (30s), the wife of Norman with a heart of gold. Vi must be able to sing and act, and have exceptional Rock ‘n’ Roll keyboards ability, with a good sense of humor.
  • APOLLO PERFORMER – African-American Female with the ability to hold the stage on her own. Key song “Party”. Must have good comic timing and be able to act. The ability to play a musical instrument is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
